June SOTM Blog Hop

You should have arrived here from  Carol's Blog  http://carolloftus.blogspot.ca/2012/05/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-june.html unless you are just joining the hop,
and if that is the case,
you can begin the hop right here with me.
To move forward to the next blog in the hop,  just click on the link at the end of the post.

Do you ever get those days (weeks)
when you bite off more than you can chew.
This is one of those weeks
So my card is quick & simple
Hope you like it.
Looking at it, I wish I had a couple of buttons to add in the bottom corner,
but my stash is getting kinda low
so this is all there is.

Heading to Toronto

Well here's a little personal tidbit.  I am heading to the big city of Toronto.  Flying out bright and early on Sunday morning with 25 teenagers.  My daughter is part of a band exchange program sponsored through SEVEC.  In April we hosted a group of students from Thornhill Secondary School for a week--took the city kids to the farm.  And now it's our turn.
Us poor country folks' is board'n one of them big metal birds and heading to the big city lights.
Not sure which group of kids will experience the greater cultural shock.

I am going to pack a wee bit of craft'in stuff and hopefully I will be able to post the odd item.
Then again, I might be too busy staring up at the CN tower.

On this page, I used a huge flourish to ground my photo mat.

All Sorts/Dotty pg 6

I added some Glitz Glitter to the center of the flowers
& some clear sparkles to the dragon fly

having your embellishment span both pages
gives your layout a sense of continuity

All Sorts/Dotty pg 5

So on this page (please excuse the color, not sure why I can't get it true to form today)
I covered the white area with just a strip of lagoon cardstock
(see below)

I am not going to walk you through this assembly step, by step
(it's just too nice outside to spend too much time on the computer)
Suffice to say above are the pieces I cut for page 5
I did end up cutting more flowers than I have shown.

I glued a white cardstock rectangle to each side of the tags,
and added some baker's twine
the finished page

All Sorts/Dotty mini pg 3

Once again, when I started to put the pieces together,
I found I was missing one.
Here I added a stem
(luckily I cut a bunch of them at the beginning)
This page is now ready for your photo or journaling
I decided not to add a mat to this page
so I would not be confined to one  size of picture.

All Sorts/Dotty Mini pg1

Page 1 has a flip-up/pocket

below are the cutting dimensions
for the rest of the pocket/page

Another thing I like to do when I start a project like this
is to cut muliples of certain images on my cricut
I cut a few of the #8 flowers (p 50)  at 1 3/4" and some branches at 2"
(all from the exclusive Close to my Heart, Art Philosophy cartridge)

Okay,  you probably notice that the flowers have a dotted backing,
but I didn't have those pieces on the cutting dimension photo.
Well, when I started to put the page together,
I didn't like the way the flowers looked as just a silouette
so I cut out some flowers out of the lagoon dotted paper

I matted the patterned strip onto the green and then on to the black.
Here I just used the silouette flower, and then added a pearl in the center.
and that is the end of page 1.

All Sorts Dotty/Mini --basic page layout

I am trying something new with the album....
I am going to try to stretch my favorite papers as far a I can.
So, this is what I did.

then I cut 3-- 4" wide (12" long) stips of the grey and of the green dotted paper.
Note: I cut all the strips 12" long

I did this for all the pages,
and alternated the pages----grey/green/grey etc.

my next post will cover embellishing  page 1

All Sorts/Dotty Mini--front cover

I am doing this a bit slower this time,
and posting page by page as I build this album.
so....on with the show
 cut pieces as shown above
plus one strip of black cardstock 3/4" x 7"
I also stamped some flourishes from
(you guessed it) D1482--Love Life
I wasn't quite happy with this
 so ..

I added a flower

Dotty meets journaling spots & 10 things pt#2

In part #1 I showed you the mini and how  to cut everything for the front cover
now please,
don't follow my example and assemble the cover.
It is much easier to do this at the end.

So, on with the show
Here is how to make the actual album
cut a piece of grey cardstock 6" x 9" and score as shown above

Adhere ribbon to both covers as shown

I added some tacky tape (in red) to make sure the album stuck together
I cut 2 pieces of grey cardstock (4 3/4 x 6 1/4) and
glued them to the inside of both covers (see below)
If you want to embellish or stamp on the inside of the covers
do it before you glue it down.
It will be much, much easier.
 I used a combination of journaling spot & cardstock (2 1/4 x 4 1/4)
for the pages.
