Card a Day Challenge--#1

One of my favourite stamp sets
From Nov 22, 2011
From Nov 22, 2011
and one of my favourite types of cards to make...don't know why I don't make more of them.
I love the way they open up.
Just a little heads up.
I am extremely busy with the "life" thing, so although I will be posting a card a day for the next 20 days, I will not have time to post all the little detailed instructions...
I will catch up on this in January.
thanks for looking and remember
I love comments.

wonderland squash book instructions

From squash album

From squash album

cut 3 8 1/2" squares,

fold each square in half (both ways, horizontal & vertical)

From squash album

Then fold it on the diagonal--once (this will leave two corners without triangle score lines)

From squash album

Then fold the cardstock into a 4x4 square, by pushing the two triangle-scored squares inside like shown

From squash album

fold two of the squares with the chocolate on the outside, this will allow the squash album to fold in neatly...take your bone folder and go over all the edges while each 4"square is folded

(this will help the paper to remember how it should fold in)

From squash album

glue the 3 squares together like above

From squash album

you should end up with this

From squash album

I cut 4 4x4 chocolate squares and glued them on the unscored squares

From squash album

then I cut 4 3-3/4 squares of daisy white

From squash album

I cut 6 more 3-3/4 squares, stamped them and cut them in half diagonally

From squash album

From squash album

view of the inside

From squash album

to make the covers a little sturdier, I cut 2 5" square from a granola box

From squash album

I then glued the box pieces to a 6" square of the B&T paper and clipped the corners

From squash album

then I glued the edges in--like so

From squash album

And then, because it didn't look neat enough for me, I glued a 4-3/4 chocolate square over the rough edges and then glued some ribbon onto the back cover

(only glue the ribbon onto one cover, or your album won't open)

From squash album

Glue your album to your cover

(test it first to make sure it is opening the way you want it to)

From squash album

glue your front cover to the album and tie your ribbon

I appologize for the poor photo quality my computer is giving me grief tonite

Remembrance Day

One more tribute
to our soldiers

Remembrance Day

Least We Forget.
Today, we remember, all those who fought and died so we could remain free.
Freedom, is a word that we as Canadians don't really understand,
unless we have come from a land that was not free
unless we have fought over there
unless we have been to a land without freedom
unless we lost someone in the fight for freedom.

But we need to remember
that
we take freedom so lightly,
because we have always had it.
Let us Remember those who died so we could remain free.

We must remember
all their sacrifices

I will remember.
All those, men and women who died so we could remain free.

Stamp organization

A veiwer asked  "Are thoses all your stamps and how do you organize them?"
Well, yes, those are all my stamps,
I have a few more that I haven't used yet
and these I will sell if someone wants them before I get around to using them.
As to organizing...I bought CD towers from Ikea (about $40) and flipped two of them on their sides,
I then divided the stamps by occassion and style e.g. boy, girl, winter, romantic, funky, birthday, etc..
I find this works for me.
And because the stamps are loosely organized into catagories,
I don't have to spend a lot of time making sure I get them back in the right spot.
I just need to be close.
I have also organized the catagories.  e.g.  spring, then summer, then fall, then winter, then Chirstmas.
Hope this helpful if you are trying to organize your stamps.

p.s I also have a couple of  my arcrylix organizers that I use for when I travel, or If  I want to keep a bunch of stamps handy on my big table.

BFF Training Mission

So, my daughter turned 13 and wanted to go rock-climbing for her birthday.
I wanted to make sure that her guest's parents were aware of what we were doing
....so mission BFF was born.

I used 3 envelopes to create this mini folder/invitation
My daughter was a little leary handing these out (after all she is in grade 8)
but they were a big hit.

Not just with the girls who received the invites,
but also with the rest of her classmates.
One of the boys in her class told his mom,
"you should have seen the invitations to Tiff's birthday...they were so epic"

Busy, Busy, Busy

As sometimes happens, life becomes chaotic and completely disorganized.
Which is where I am right now. So I thought to put pen to paper and hopefully regroup and prioritize my next few days.

Tiff's Birthday party--Nov 11
things to do--make invites--today
confirm attendance of girls
confirm second driver

Centennial Celebration--presentation to Town Monday Nov 14
1pm today--meeting to prepare presentation
before then--set up office area a bit

Chateau Christmas Market--Nov 12--1-5pm
need to organize items to bring

Hostess Club--Nov 9--7-9pm
need to prepare sample of next month's project
need to prepare mini make'n take for that night

Work--right forgot I work Thurs--Nov 10

Well that's about it, not much, just a half a dozen different things that need to be accomplished at a half a dozen different places. So I guess my first priority is to head to the Centennial Headquarters and start preparing for the meeting that is too take place in the next hour.

I will update my progress as I have time.

Clear Christmas Card 2

From Cards

The nice thing about owning the exclusive CTMH Cricut AP cartridge is that you can cut out a circular window anywhere on your card.  I love how this one turned out.
