Just thought I would let you know I am busy creating this weekend and will be posting pics of all my creations late Sunday or Monday morning...I can't wait. 48 hrs of none stop crafting with a dozen other women.
Welcome to my Blog. I have a bit of a squirrel mentality. I love to be creative, but I do tend to get distracted easily. Although this blog focuses mainly on paper crafts, I am also the proud owner of Shirley's Flowers and Friends in Beautiful Three Hills, AB. I hope my posts, inspire you to be more creative, and bring a smile to your face. And if you're ever in rural Alberta stop in at the shop.

Vancouver Regionals
WOW!! Two days, jam-packed with business tips, creative projects, good food and new friends. I absolutely love attending these events. I love the energy and friendships that are formed and rekindled. I love learning what corp has been planning and what we can soon share with the rest of you.
This year I was proud to be named #3 for sales in Studio J layouts and I was privileged to have two of my layouts showcased on screen at the event

leaving on a jet plane
heading to Vancouver Friday, at 6am...CTMH Regionals. I can't wait.
I enjoy meeting fellow consultants, listening the the girls (and a couple of guys) from corp. update us on all the new products and business items.
Ironically, at I sit here thinking about leaving.
I also am thinking about how life turns out. If Brian was still alive, I would not be leaving. I would be driving the combine, or running for parts or fixing meals to take to the field. But he has been gone for 5 years. And so, my life is different now.
It has been said that when one door closes, another door opens.
And this is true. But you must make the choice to open the door,
to seize the new opportunties that life is presenting you with.
I chose to open the door, to walk down a different path. I still miss the past, but I am excited about the future.

Motivation
It's Saturday morning and I have the weekend off. Yeah!!! I am having my morning coffee and cruising the internet, looking for inspiration. Actually, I'm avoiding starting to finish my kitchen.
The sink, that's about all I have left to install. Why am I so hesitant? I've done this before (well 15 years ago) Is it the fact that I am getting older and not as confident in my abilities?
I remember when I thought I could tackle any project (except electrial--that just scares the beejeesses out of me). I would try anything, built bookshelves, move the fridge, paint the house, drive a semi (once). Or am I just lazy this morning?
Or am I dreading giving up my extra counterspace (that I use to scrapbook on) hmmm.
I think it's a bit of everything.
So, I will be finishing my coffee, and then clearing my counters (of all my CTMH supplies) and cutting the hole.

kitchen reno
So I tend to tackle more than I can chew. Point in case...my kitchen reno.
I started it May Long weekend. Figured I could have it up and running before summer. Yeah, and pigs can fly. I totally forgot all the days I had to work and all the school year end event.
"But that's okay." I said to myself. "I can still get it done before Nathan's wedding in August."
Well guess how that turned out? Not so good. I forgot that I would be going to CTMH's convention (there went one week) and that I had a family reunion two weeks later (pretty much got rid of July) and then I said I would make chocolates for wedding favours (150 boxes, decorated with two stamped and matted hearts and filled with four chocolates each). Yep you guessed it. There went August.
However, I have managed to install most of the new cupboards in amongst all this craziness, but I am still sinkless.
Oh, I have the sink (sitting in a box by my front door), but I am loath to cut into my new countertop and loose all that fabulous scrapbooking area.
But Tiff is back in school and I would like her to start doing dishes...so, maybe by the end of September, my kitchen reno will be complete.

Sept 7
Working like a mad woman on samples for Wednesday, Sept. 7th. Come discover what is new with CTMH. Not into scrapbooking, but would love to delete all those pictures off of your computer and put them into an expandable memory book? Well, I can help you. (with a little help from CTMH & Studio J)
Or would you like to own a one of a kind advent calendar?
Or send hand-made cards?
Or create a family recipe book?
I'm working on samples of all of these products just for you.
I will be posting pictures as the samples are created.
So stay tuned.
Well, just about done my coffee. Time to crank up the Chistmas tunes and get creative

base & shade stamping
After watching this video, take base & shade stamping to a new level.
Take any solid stamp, ink in a light color and then add another stamp (florishes, snowflakes, words on top)
To make sure that your 2nd image doesn't extend over the boundries of the first stamp, create a mask of the first stamp.
enjoy
